Configuring the Auto-Negotiation Mode on an Interface

Configuring the Auto-Negotiation Mode on an Interface

NOTE:
  • If you configure the negotiation disable command on an interface in Up state, the interface state will change to Down and then to Up. Exercise caution when deciding to run this command.

  • Interfaces at both ends of a link must use the same auto-negotiation mode.

  • The following types of interfaces support the auto-negotiation mode configuration:
    • Electrical interfaces

    • 10GE optical interfaces connecting to SFP-GE copper modules on CE series switches (excluding the CE5810) (The interfaces work in auto-negotiation mode by default.)

    • 40GE optical interfaces connecting to high-speed cables (The interfaces work in auto-negotiation mode by default.)

    • 100GE optical interfaces connecting to 40GE/100GE high-speed cables on the CE8860EI, CE8850EI, CE6860EI, CE6865EI, CE6870EI, CE6875EI, and CE6880EI (The interfaces work in auto-negotiation mode by default.)

Run the negotiation disable command in the interface view to configure an Ethernet interface to work in non-auto-negotiation mode. By default, an Ethernet interface works in auto-negotiation mode.

# Configure 10GE1/0/1 to work in auto-negotiation mode.

<HUAWEI> system-view
[~HUAWEI] interface 10ge 1/0/1
[~HUAWEI-10GE1/0/1] undo negotiation disable
[*HUAWEI-10GE1/0/1] commit

If 25GE high-speed cables or 100GE 1-to-4 high-speed cables are installed on interfaces 25GE1/0/9 to 25GE1/0/48 and 25GE interfaces split from all 100GE interfaces on the CE6860EI and 25GE interfaces split from interfaces 100GE1/0/3 to 100GE1/0/30 on the CE8850-32CQ-EI, auto-negotiation is disabled by default on these interfaces, and you can run the negotiation enable command to enable auto-negotiation on the interfaces.
