Configuring the Training Function on an Interface

Configuring the Training Function on an Interface

After the training function is enabled on a 40GE interface, the transmit end exchanges frames with the receive end to negotiate the pre-emphasis and balancing parameters, improving their performance. This function compensates signals and filters high-frequency crosstalk.

You can configure the training disable or undo training disable command on a 40GE interface only when it connects to a high-speed cable or the pre-configured medium is a high-speed cable. In addition, the training function takes effect on the 40GE interface only when the interface works in auto-negotiation mode. By default, the training function is enabled on a 40GE interface.

  • # Disable the training function on 40GE1/0/1.
    <HUAWEI> system-view
    [~HUAWEI] interface 40ge 1/0/1
    [~HUAWEI-40GE1/0/1] training disable
    [*HUAWEI-40GE1/0/1] commit
  • # Enable the training function on 40GE1/0/2.
    <HUAWEI> system-view
    [~HUAWEI] interface 40ge 1/0/2
    [~HUAWEI-40GE1/0/2] undo training disable
    [*HUAWEI-40GE1/0/2] commit
NOTE:
  • The training disable command cannot be configured on 40GE or QSFP28 interfaces of the following switches and cards: CE6855HI, CE6856HI, CE6860EI, CE6865EI, CE6870EI, CE6875EI, CE6880EI, CE7855EI, CE8850EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI, ED-E/EG-E/EGA-E series, CE-L36LQ-FD, CE-L24LQ-FD, CE-L36CQ-FD, CE-L36CQ-FG, CE-L36CQ-FD1, CE-L36CQ-SD, CE-L16CQ-FD, CE-L12CQ-FD, FD-X series, and CE-L48XS-FDA.

  • When connecting two devices, enable or disable the training function on both ends simultaneously.

  • If a 40GE interface is configured as a physical member interface in a stack system, the training function cannot be disabled.

  • If a 40GE interface is configured as a physical member interface in a stack system, the training disable configuration will be automatically deleted from the interface.

  • When a 40GE interface on the CE88-D16Q subcard connects to a QSFP+ high-speed cable, you can run the training disable command to disable the training function on a group of interfaces. Each interface group contains two interfaces, such as interfaces 1 and 2, interfaces 3 and 4, and interfaces 15 and 16. The training function cannot be configured on one interface. This limitation does not apply to a 100GE QSFP28 interface that connects to a QSFP+ high-speed cable.

  • In V100R001C00, V100R002C00, and V100R003C00SPC100, the training function is disabled on an interface by default. Note the following points:
    • In other versions, the training function is enabled on an interface by default. If a switch is upgraded from V100R001C00, V100R002C00, or V100R003C00SPC100 to a later version, a training disable configuration is added to an interface to ensure that the switch configurations remain unchanged. To delete this configuration, install or pre-configure a medium that supports the training function on the interface, and run the undo training disable command.

    • If a switch is downgraded from V100R003C00SPC500 or a later version to V100R001C00, V100R002C00, or V100R003C00SPC100, and the training function is enabled on an interface that is in Up state before the downgrade, the interface may not go Up after the downgrade.
