Configuring the SNMPv3 User Group and User Name

Configuring the SNMPv3 User Group and User Name

SNMPv3 supports user groups and user names, but SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c do not support. By default, the device runs SNMPv3.

The security level of a user must be higher than or equal to the security level of the corresponding user group. The security levels in descending order include:
  • privacy: authentication and encryption
  • authentication: authentication and no encryption
  • none: no authentication and no encryption

If a user group is at the privacy level, users in this group must be at the privacy level. If a user group is at the authentication level, users in this group must be at the privacy or authentication level.

# Set the user group name to group001. Set the security level to privacy, and configure access control to restrict the access of an NMS to the device.
