Allocating a Fixed IP Address to a Client

Allocating a Fixed IP Address to a Client

During network planning, you need to configure fixed IP addresses for some important devices such as enterprises' DNS servers to ensure stability. You can configure static IP addresses for the devices using the ip address command or configure the DHCP server to allocate fixed IP addresses to the devices. The following describes how to allocate fixed IP addresses to clients using DHCP.

Configure a switch as the DHCP server to allocate a fixed IP address to a client. For example, configure the switch to allocate the IP address in the address pool only to the client with the MAC address dcd2-fc96-e4c0.
