Uploading the License File

The license file is saved on a PC. There are reachable routes between the switch and PC. The following uses the license file CloudEngine12800V100R006_20151218150734.dat as an example. You can upload the license file to the switch using three methods.

  • The switch functions as an FTP server and the PC functions as an FTP client. Upload the license file from the FTP client to the switch.

    1. Log in to the switch. Configure a local user and the FTP server.

    2. Access the command-line interface (CLI) on the PC. Choose Start, enter cmd in the search box, and press Enter to access the CLI.

      NOTE:

      When uploading or downloading a file, specify the FTP working directory on the client. Save the license file to be uploaded in this directory in advance. In this example, save the license file in the directory C:\Windows\System32 in advance.

  • The switch functions as a TFTP client and the PC functions as a TFTP server. Upload the license file from the TFTP server to the switch.
    1. Run the TFTP server program on the PC and complete relevant configurations.

      Take the TFTP32 software as an example, as shown in Figure 4-2. Click Browse to set the directory for storing the license file. The TFTP server address in Server interfaces is automatically set by the system.

    2. Log in to the switch.

      Run the tftp tftp-server get source-filename command in the user view to obtain the license file from the PC.

  • The switch functions as an FTP client and the PC functions as an FTP server.

    1. Configure the PC as an FTP server.

      Create the user name and password for logging in to the FTP server, and set the FTP working directory on the PC.

    2. Log in to the switch and enter the CLI.
      <HUAWEI> ftp 10.135.193.10
      Trying 10.135.193.10 ...                                                        
      Press CTRL + K to abort                                                         
      Connected to 10.135.193.10.                                                     
      220 FTP Server ready.
