Function

The change user command is used to perform the following operations for a specific user, including resetting passwords, changing user levels, forcing the user offline and changing the password at the next login.

Format

change user user_name=? { level=? | action=? }

Parameters

user_name=? User name.

To obtain the value, run "show user" without parameters.

level=? New user level.

The value can be "admin" or "guest", where:

  • "admin": administrator.
  • "guest": read-only user.
action=? Operation on the user.

The value can be "reset_password", "offline", or "change_password_next_login", where:

  • "reset_password": resets the user's password.
  • "offline": forces the user offline.
  • "change_password_next_login": enables the user to change its password upon next login.

Usage Guidelines

  • Run the "change user user_name=? level=?" command to change a user's level. This command can only be used to change the levels of storage system administrators and read-only users.
  • Run the "change user user_name=? action=reset_password" command to reset a user's password. Only the passwords of administrators and read-only users can be reset. If the password of a user is entered incorrectly for three consecutive times within five minutes, the user is forced to log out.
  • Run the "change user user_name=? action=offline" command to force a specific user offline. Only the administrators and read-only users can be forced offline.
  • Run the "change user user_name=? action=change_password_next_login" command to enable a specific user to change its password upon next login. This command applies to the administrators and read-only users only.

Example

  • Change the "testuser" level to guest.

    admin:/>change user user_name=testuser level=guest
    WARNING: You are about to change the user level. This operation will change the user's operation permission.
    Suggestion: Before performing this operation, ensure that the selected user level is correct.

  • Enable the "testuser" user to change its password upon next login.
