change port eth

change port eth

Function

The change port eth command is used to modify the properties of an Ethernet port (host port, management/host port, or maintenance/host port). 1:Host port: The Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) can be changed. 2:Management/host port: The running type and MTU (when the running type is service) can be changed. 3:Maintenance/host port: The running type and MTU (when the running type is service) can be changed.

Format

change port eth eth_port_id=? { mtu=? [ is_host_port=? ] | running_type=? } *

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Value

eth_port_id=? ID of a port.

To obtain the value, run "show port general". The value contains 1

to 31 characters, including letters, digits, and periods (.). The value cannot

start with a digit or a period (.), or end with a period (.).

mtu=? The MTU indicates the size of the largest packet that can be transmitted on a certain layer of a protocol.

The value ranges from 1280 to 9000, expressed in bytes. (If the running type of a maintenance/host port is changed to "host", the value ranges from 1280 to 1500.).

is_host_port=? Whether the port is a host port. This operation is valid for a S2600T only. When the value is set to "yes", you can set the management port H4 or the maintenance port H5 as a host port.

The value can be "on" or "off", where:

  • "yes": the port is a host port.
  • "no": the port is not a host port.
The default value is "no".
running_type=? Running type of a port. This parameter can be configured in developer mode only. For details about how to log in to the developer mode, see the Restricted Command Reference.

The value can be "host", "management", or "maintenance", where:

  • "host": The running type of the management/host port or maintenance/host port is changed to host.
  • "management": The running type of the management/host port is changed to management.
  • "maintenance": The running type of the maintenance/host port is changed to maintenance.

Usage Guidelines

N/A.

Example

  • To set the MTU of the Ethernet port "CTE0.A1.P0" to "1600" bytes, run the following command. The ID and output vary depending on a specific product.

    admin:/>change port eth eth_port_id=CTE0.A1.P0 mtu=1600
DANGER: You are about to modify the MTU of the Ethernet port.
This operation may interrupt services or cause service exceptions.
Suggestion: Before performing this operation, determine whether the modification is necessary.
Have you read danger alert message carefully?(y/n)y
Are you sure you really want to perform the operation?(y/n)y
    Command executed successfully.
  • Change the running type of management/host port "CTE0.A.H4" to host. The port ID and command output vary depending on product models.

    admin:/>change port eth eth_port_id=CTE0.A.H4 running_type=host
DANGER: You are about to change the running type of the management port or maintenance port on the storage device.
This operation may cause no management ports or maintenance ports available on the storage device and make functions, such as SNMP, syslog, email, FTP upload, and LDAP-based storage management unavailable.
Suggestion: Before performing this operation, ensure that the running type needs to be changed. Before changing the running type from management or maintenance to service, ensure that other functional management ports and maintenance ports can be used to manage and maintain the storage device.

Are you sure you really want to perform the operation?(y/n)y
    Command executed successfully.
