Application Scenarios

This section introduces application scenarios of SmartCache.SmartCache is suitable for application scenarios where some random small I/Os are frequently accessed, and read operations are more than write operations. In such scenarios, SmartCache can greatly improve system read performance.

With SSDs' fast response speed and high IOPS, SmartCache remarkably improves system read performance. SmartCache is especially suitable for application scenarios where some random small I/Os are frequently accessed, and read operations are more than write operations. The scenarios include database, online transaction processing (OLTP), web service, and file service applications. Figure 1-4 shows application scenarios of SmartCache.

SmartCache can remarkably improve storage system read performance. Table 1-1 describes the performance improvement in typical application scenarios.
