Removing an SSD

Removing an SSD

If you do not want certain SSDs to cache data that is frequently read, you can remove them from the SmartCache pool. Then these SSDs become free disks.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Provisioning > Resource Performance Tuning > SmartCache > SmartCache Pool.
  3. Go to the Remove SSD dialog box.
    1. In the upper part of the left function pane, select the SmartCache pool from which you want to remove an SSD.
    2. Click Remove SSD.

      The Remove SSD dialog box is displayed.

      Alternatively, you can right-click the SmartCache partition and choose Remove SSD.

  4. Select the SSD that you want to remove.

    In the Available SSDs list, select the SSD that you want to remove from the SmartCache partition and click Right Arrow to add the SSD to the Selected SSDs list.

  5. Confirm that you want to remove the SSD.
    1. Click OK.

      The security alert dialog box is displayed.

    2. Click the check box next to the statement I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    3. Click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded.

    4. Click Close.
