Performing Rollback

During the process of configuring the online takeover function, if you do not want to use the OceanStor 2200 V3/2600 V3 storage system (local storage system) for online takeover and the heterogeneous storage system is required to continue carrying application servers' services, perform rollback.

Rollback operations vary depending on different operations performed to configure the online takeover function. For details, see Table 7-14.

Configuring and using eDevLUNs

(Optional) Add a remote device.

Enable automatic LUN scanning.

Create eDevLUNs.

Map eDevLUNs to an application server.

  1. Disconnect the local storage system from the application server.
  2. Cancel the mapping relationship between the eDevLUNs and application server.
  3. Disconnect the local storage system from the heterogeneous storage system.

Scan for eDevLUNs on the application server.

Configuring host path switchover

Check the multipathing status.

Switch over host paths.

  1. Restore the path between the application server and heterogeneous storage system (restore the physical connection between the application server and heterogeneous storage system or add the initiator of the application server to the host that corresponds to the application server).
  2. Scan for LUNs on the application server and verify that the transfer path identified by the multipathing software has been restored between the application server and heterogeneous storage system.
  3. Switch I/O path to that between the heterogeneous storage system and the application server. When OceanStor UltraPath whose version is earlier than V100R008C20 is installed on the application server, ignore this operation.
    1. On the application server, run the command to switch back the multipathing software to the path of the original array.
    2. Remove the mapping between the application server and the connected port of the local storage system.
    3. Scan for LUNs on the application server.

      Wait 60 seconds for the vLUNs' status to become normal.

    NOTE:

    In a cluster environment, perform the following operations on each of the clustered host nodes.

  4. (Optional) If the application server is running OceanStor UltraPath V100R008C20 or later, run the command to switch back to the original path to the storage array.
    Because the logical disks detected by the application server are migration LUNs, perform the following operations on the application server to convert the migration LUNs into normal LUNs:
    1. Go to the CLI of OceanStor UltraPath.
    2. Run start migration vlan id=<id> direction=source rollback=disable to switch I/Os to the path between the heterogeneous storage system and the application server.
  5. Disconnect the local storage system from the application server.
Migrate the reserved information.
NOTE:

This operation is not required when a third-party heterogeneous storage system is taken over online.

Confirm the completion of the host path switchover.

The online takeover is completed after you clear the path switchover property of masqueraded eDevLUNs. Then you cannot perform online rollback. To perform rollback, stop host services first.
