Check the items described in this section before delivering an active-active DC project.

Hardware models and configurations of the HyperMetro storage systems

The hardware models and configurations (such as the number of controllers and interface modules) must be the same.

Check the hardware models, hardware configurations, and license files of the two DCs based on BOQ.

HyperMetro license

Both storage systems have the HyperMetro license.

Software version

The software versions of both storage systems must be identical.

On the storage systems, run the show version all command to query the version.

Switch license

NOTE:

Applies to HyperMetro deployment across DCs.

The switch has the long-distance transmission license (if the distance between the DCs is over 10 km) and cascading license.

Check the switch based on the BOQ.

Applies to HyperMetro deployment across DCs.

The DWDM device is deployed.

Check the device based on the BOQ or onsite.

Compatibility

Multipathing software

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Check the compatibility using the OceanStor Interoperability Navigator.

Operating system and application version of the application server

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Switch

Meets the HyperMetro compatibility requirements.

Heterogeneous storage system

The heterogeneous storage system must meet compatibility requirements.

Network quality

Distance between the active-active DCs, latency, and packet loss ratio

  • The requirements for database services are as follows:
    • Distance < 100 km
    • Round-trip time (RTT) ≤ 1 ms
    • No jitter or packet loss
    • Bit error rate (BER) ≤ 10-12
  • The requirements for non-database services (such as the virtualization platform and file system cluster) are as follows:
    • Distance < 300 km
    • RTT ≤ 10 ms
    • No jitter or packet loss
    • BER ≤ 10-12

Perform the following operations on the storage systems:

  • Check the RTT.

    On the storage systems, run the ping command to check the RTT of network.

    Storage: minisystem> ping 8.46.114.82
    PING 8.46.114.82 (8.46.114.82) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from 8.46.114.82: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.138 ms
    --- 8.46.114.82 ping statistics ---

    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.128/0.135/0.146/0.004 ms
    NOTE:

    In this example, 8.46.114.82 is the IP address of the management network port on the peer storage system.

  • Check the packet loss ratio.

    On the storage systems, run the ping -f command to collect statistics on the packet loss rate. In the example shown in the following figure, the packet loss rate is 0% for 100,000 packets sent within a short time.

  • Checking the BER.

    Log in to the switch and run the relevant commands to collect statistics. For details about the commands, see the switch user guide. Take the SNS2124 switch as an example. Run the porterrshow command and check the values of enc_out, tx, and rx of the replication link ports. BER = enc_out/(tx + rx)
