Viewing Information About SmartDedupe and SmartCompression

The information that can be viewed includes the following parameters: total space before SmartDedupe and SmartCompression are enabled, total space saved, whether SmartDedupe is enabled, whether SmartCompression is enabled, space saved by SmartDedupe, and space saved by SmartCompression.

Procedure

  1. Go to the LUN Properties dialog box.
    1. On the right navigation bar, click Provisioning.
    2. In the Block Storage Service area, click LUN.
    3. In the left function pane, click the LUN tab.
    4. In the function pane, select a LUN that has SmartDedupe and SmartCompression enabled.

Table 3-1  Related parameters of SmartDedupe&SmartCompression

      Parameter

      Description

      Value

      Total Space before Saving

Storage space occupied by data before SmartDedupe and SmartCompression is enabled

      [Example]

      1000.000 MB

      Total Space Saved

Storage space saved after SmartDedupe and SmartCompression is enabled

      [Example]

      20.000 MB (2%)

      Enabling deduplication

The deduplication function is enabled. After SmartDedupe is enabled, the check box is selected.

      [Example]

      Enabling data deduplication (SmartDedupe)

      Saved Space after deduplication

Size of storage space (storage pool capacity) saved by the deduplication of data written to LUNs. The unit is MB (%).
      • MB: indicates the saved storage space.
      • %: indicates the percentage of the size of deduplicated data in the total size of data written to the LUNs.
      NOTE:

When SmartDedupe is not enabled or the system has not performed data deduplication, the value of the parameter is 0.000 MB (0%).

      [Example]

      10.000 MB (1%)

      Enabling data compression

The compression function is enabled. After SmartCompression is enabled, the check box is selected.

      [Example]

      Enabling data compression (SmartCompression)

      Saved Space after compression

Size of storage space (storage pool capacity) saved by the compression of data written to LUNs. The unit is MB (%).
      • MB: indicates the saved storage space.
      • %: indicates the percentage of the size of compressed data in the total size of data written to the LUNs.
      NOTE:

When SmartCompression is not enabled or the system has not performed data compression, the value of the parameter is 0.000 MB (0%).

      [Example]

      10.000 MB (1%)
