Removing a RAID Controller Card (FIO-B)

Scenarios

Remove a RAID controller card in any of the following scenarios:

  • The RAID controller card has failed.
  • The RAID controller card needs to be replaced with a new model.

Prerequisites

Conditions

No special conditions are required for this operation.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
  • Phillips screwdriver

Procedure

  1. Power off the physical partition where the RAID controller card is located. (On a 4-socket server, you can power off the entire SCE.) For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the FIO where the RAID controller card is located. For details, see Removing an FIO (FIO-B).
  3. Press the button on the FIO cover. See step (1) in Figure 6-96.
  4. Remove the FIO cover. See step (2) in Figure 6-96.

  5. Remove the cables from the RAID controller card. See step (1) in Figure 6-97.
  6. Loosen the screws on the RAID controller card. See step (2) Figure 6-97.
  7. Gently remove the RAID controller card. See step (3) in Figure 6-97.
  8. Place the removed RAID controller card in an ESD bag.
