Removing a PIC
Operation Scenario
Remove a partition interconnect cable (PIC) if it has failed or not properly connected.
Prerequisites
Conditions
You have determined the cabinet number and location of the server from which a PIC is to be removed.
Before removing a PIC, ensure that the service system is powered off to avoid equipment damage and personal injury due to an incorrect or loose connection.
Data
No data preparation is required for this operation.
Tools
- ESD gloves
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Procedure
- Pinch the connector on the PIC and gently push the connector inward. See step (1) in Figure 6-151.
- Hold the plastic ring-pull using your index finger, and push out the connector in the arrow direction. See step (2) in Figure 6-151.
- Place the removed PIC in an ESD bag.
- After removing a PIC, wait for at least 30 seconds before you power on the service system.
- Protect the connector of the removed PIC to avoid deformation due to impact.
