Installing an FPC

Installing an FPC


Install a flexible printed circuit (FPC) in any of the following scenarios:

  • An FPC has failed.
  • An FIO has failed.
  • An REE has failed.
  • A switch module has failed.



No special condition is required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag


Spare FPC


  1. Power off the entire SCE and the physical partition that corresponds to the FPC. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Take the spare FPC out of its ESD bag.
  3. Insert the FPC into the corresponding connectors in the FIO and switch module smoothly until it cannot move. See step (1) in Figure 6-14.
  4. Close the FPC ejector levers until the FPC is latched. See step (2) in Figure 6-14.
