Installing a Half-Height BIO (BIO-C or BIO-D)
Scenarios
Install a half-height back I/O module (BIO) to replace the faulty one.
Prerequisites
Conditions
The 9016 supports two types of half-height BIOs, BIO-D (7 slots) and BIO-C (8 slots). The following uses BIO-D as an example.
- The BIO-D can be installed only in slots 1 and 3. The BIO-C can be installed only in slots 2 and 4. The slot numbers can be viewed on the right of the switch module. The slots are numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4 from left to right.
- After a BIO of a different type is installed, do not power on the switch module within 2 minutes.

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Hardware
Spare half-height BIO
Procedure
- Power off the physical partition where a BIO-D is to be installed. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
- Take the spare BIO-D out of its ESD bag.
- Insert the BIO-D into the switch module as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-124.
- Close the ejector lever until the BIO-D is latched. See step (2) in Figure 6-124.
