Installing a PCIe Card on an FIO

Installing a PCIe Card on an FIO

Scenarios

Install a PCIe card on a front I/O module (FIO) to replace the faulty one.

Prerequisites

Conditions

No special conditions are required for this operation.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

Hardware

Spare PCIe card

Procedure

  1. Power off the physical partition where a PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the FIO where the PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Removing an FIO (FIO-A).
  3. Remove the PCIe riser module (RPM) where the PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Installing a PRM.
  4. Take the spare PCIe card out of its ESD bag.
  5. Install the PCIe card on the PRM. See step (1) in Figure 6-81.
  6. Close the PCIe card latch on the right. See step (2) in Figure 6-81.
  7. Close the baffle outside the PCIe card. See step (3) in Figure 6-81.

  8. Install the PCIe riser module (RPM) where the PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Installing a PRM.
  9. (Optional) If the 9016 is configured with a GPU, connect power cables between the front I/O module and the GPU. Figure 6-82 shows positions of cable ports.

If a GPU provides two power ports, randomly connect the two power ports to those on the front I/O module. If a GPU provides only one power port, connect the power port to any power port on the front I/O module.
