Removing a RAID Controller Card (Switch Module)


Remove a RAID controller card from a switch module in any of the following scenarios:

  • A RAID controller card has failed.
  • A RAID controller card needs to be replaced with a new model.



No special condition is required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
  • Phillips screwdriver


  1. Power off the entire SCE or REE where the RAID controller card to be removed is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the switch module. For details, see Removing a Switch Module.
  3. Press the button on the switch module cover. See step (1) in Figure 6-135.
  4. Remove the cover. See steps (2) and (3) in Figure 6-135.

  5. Remove the air duct from the switch module. For details, see Removing an Air Duct.
  6. Loosen the screws on the supercapacitor, and remove the supercapacitor. See step (1) in Figure 6-136.
  7. Gently remove the RAID controller card. See step (2) in Figure 6-136.
  8. Place the removed RAID controller card in an ESD bag.
