Removing an FIO (FIO-B)

Scenarios

Remove a front I/O module (FIO) in any of the following scenarios:

  • The FIO has failed.
  • A RAID controller card on the FIO has failed.
  • A supercapacitor on the FIO has failed.
  • A hard disk indicator panel has failed.
  • A hard disk backplane has failed.

Prerequisites

Conditions

No special conditions are required for this operation.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

Procedure

  1. Power off the physical partition where the FIO is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Fully open the FIO ejector levers. See step (1) in Figure 6-35.
  3. Gently remove the FIO by holding its ejector levers. See step (2) in Figure 6-35.
  4. Remove all modules from the FIO.

  5. Place the removed FIO in an ESD bag.
