Removing a BIO
Scenarios
Remove a back I/O module (BIO) in any of the following scenarios:
- The BIO has failed.
- A non-hot-swappable PCIe card on the BIO has failed.
Prerequisites
Conditions
The 9016 SCE supports two types of BIOs: BIO-A and BIO-B. A BIO-A supports two standard hot-swappable PCIe slots, and a BIO-B supports three standard non-hot-swappable PCIe slots. This topic describes how to remove a BIO-B.
Data
No data preparation is required for this operation.
Tools
- ESD gloves
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Procedure
- Power off the physical partition where the BIO-B to be removed is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
- Press the latch on the BIO-B. The ejector levers eject automatically. See step (1) in Figure 6-39.
- Fully open the BIO-B ejector levers. See step (2) in Figure 6-39.
- Gently remove the BIO-B by holding its ejector levers. See step (3) in Figure 6-39.
- Remove all PCIe cards from the BIO-B. For details, see Removing a Non-Hot-Swappable PCIe Card. For details about how to remove hot-swappable PCIe cards from a BIO-A, see Removing a Hot-Swappable PCIe Card.
- Place the removed BIO-B in an ESD bag.
