This document describes the appearance, specifications, parameters, and structure of the KunLun 9016, and how to install an OS, replace parts, and install, remove, configure, and troubleshoot the server.

Using the Local KVM


Connect the 9016 to the local KVM for local management and maintenance of the server.

With the local KVM, you can log in to the central management console (CMC) CLI, log in to the operating system (OS) of a basic partition unit (BPU), mount a DVD drive to a BPU, and connect to a BPU or a serial port using Serial over LAN (SOL).



You have logged in to the CMC CLI.


You have obtained the following data:

  • User name and password for logging in to the CMC
  • User name and password for logging in to the BPU to be connected


  1. Connect a mouse and a keyboard to two USB ports on the central management enclosure (CME) respectively.
  2. Connect a monitor to the video graphics array (VGA) port on the CME by using a VGA cable.

    The main screen of the KVM is displayed, as shown in Figure 9-9.

    On the main screen:

    • Press , , , or to select of a BPU, and press Enter to access the OS of the BPU.
    • Press , , , or to select of a BPU, and press Enter to mount the DVD drive in the CME to the BPU. It takes 5 to 6 seconds to mount the DVD drive to a BPU. During the mounting process, do not press Enter again. The color of the DVD drive indicates its status:
      • indicates that the DVD drive is detected.
      • indicates that the DVD drive is working.
    • After finishing using the DVD drive, press , , , or to select, press Enter, and press Y when prompted to disconnect the DVD drive. After the DVD drive is in the Ready state, take out the DVD drive. Do not take out the DVD drive when it is in the Work state.
    • If the remote DVD drive is mounted on the CMC WebUI, the local DVD drive cannot be mounted. To use the local DVD drive, unmount the remote DVD drive first.
    • After mouse acceleration is enabled on the remote KVM, the local KVM does not support mouse scroll wheel operations. If scroll wheel operations are required, disable mouse acceleration on the remote KVM.
    • An image or folder can be mounted on the remote KVM only after the local DVD drive is disconnected and the DVD drive is in the Ready state.
    • The local KVM can be used only after KVM VMM encryption is disabled on the CMC WebUI.

  3. Perform an operation on the menu based on service requirements. For example, press Ctrl+S.

    The SOL screen is displayed, showing the following information:

    *             Welcome to SMM SOL Server                               * 
    *     Please log in with SMM account and password.                    * 
    user name:

    To return to the previous screen, press Ctrl+R. To return to the main screen of the KVM, press Ctrl+Shift+Alt.

  4. Enter the user name and password for logging in to the CMC.

    The screen for selecting a BPU number is displayed.

    The numbers on the screen are described as follows:

    1 to 4 indicate BPUs 1 to 4 respectively.

  5. Enter the number of the BPU to be connected (for example, enter 1), and press Enter.

    All serial ports to be connected are displayed.

    COM#(1 ~ 2):

  6. Enter the number of the serial port to be connected (for example, enter 1), and press Enter.

    The serial port screen is displayed.

  7. Enter the user name and password for logging in to the BPU.

    On the serial port screen, you can configure and query data.
