Installing an NCM

Installing an NCM


Install a node controller module (NCM) to replace the faulty one.



No special conditions are required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag


Spare NCM


  1. Power off the physical partition where an NCM is to be installed. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Take the spare NCM out of its ESD bag.
  3. Insert the NCM into the SCE as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-42.
  4. Close the NCM ejector lever until the NCM is latched. See step (2) in Figure 6-42.
  5. Connect the node interconnect (NI) cables to the NCM. Install NI cables see Connecting NI Cables.
