Removing an REE


Remove an REE if it has failed.



No special condition is required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
  • Phillips screwdriver


  1. Power of the REE. For a server with a cabinet, turn off the PDU switch that corresponds to the REE.
  2. Remove the front acoustic door. For details, see Removing an Acoustic Door.
  3. Remove all cables from the REE.
  4. Remove the front bezel. For details, see Removing a Front Bezel.
  5. Remove the FPC. For details, see Removing an FPC.
  6. Remove all modules from the REE.

  7. Loosen the screws on the four corners of the REE. See step (1) in Figure 6-15.
  8. Gently remove the REE. See step (2) in Figure 6-15.

  9. Place the removed REE in an ESD bag.
