Removing an REE

Remove an REE if it has failed.

- ESD gloves
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
- Phillips screwdriver
Procedure
- Power of the REE. For a server with a cabinet, turn off the PDU switch that corresponds to the REE.
- Remove the front acoustic door. For details, see Removing an Acoustic Door.
- Remove all cables from the REE.
- Remove the front bezel. For details, see Removing a Front Bezel.
- Remove the FPC. For details, see Removing an FPC.
- Remove all modules from the REE.
- Remove the switch module. For details, see Removing a Switch Module.
- Remove the BIO. For details, see Removing a Full-height Hot-Swappable BIO (BIO-E) or Removing a Half-Height BIO (BIO-C or BIO-D).
- Remove the fan modules. For details, see Removing a Fan Module.
- Remove the PSUs. For details, see Removing an AC PSU from an REE.
- Loosen the screws on the four corners of the REE. See step (1) in Figure 6-15.
- Gently remove the REE. See step (2) in Figure 6-15.
- Place the removed REE in an ESD bag.
