Operation Scenario

Install a partition interconnect cable (PIC) to replace the faulty one or if it is not properly connected.

Prerequisites

Conditions

You have determined the cabinet number and location of the server where a PIC is to be installed.

Before installing a PIC, ensure that the service system is powered off to avoid equipment damage and personal injury due to an incorrect or loose connection.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

ESD gloves

Procedure

  1. Take the spare PIC out of its ESD bag.
  2. View the engineering label content of the PIC, and note down the content in blank engineering labels.
  3. Attach the engineering labels to both ends of the PIC.
  4. Remove the dustproof cap from the PIC connector, align the PIC connector with the port, and horizontally insert the connector into the port. See Figure 6-152.
    Figure 6-152 Installing a PIC

  1. Push the PIC connector inward, and ensure that the PIC is properly installed.

  1. After a PIC is installed, attempt to pull it out gently. If the PIC is securely connected, push the connector inward again to ensure that the connector is latched.
