Removing an FPC

Removing an FPC


Remove an FPC in any of the following scenarios:

  • The FPC has failed.
  • An FIO has failed.
  • An REE has failed.
  • A switch module has failed.



No special condition is required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag


  1. Remove the front bezel. For details, see Removing a Front Bezel.
  2. Power off the entire SCE of the physical partition that corresponds to the FPC. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  3. Press the ejector lever release buttons on the FPC. The ejector levers eject automatically. See step (1) in Figure 6-13.
  4. Fully raise the ejector levers. See step (2) in Figure 6-13.
  5. Gently remove the FPC by holding its ejector levers. See step (3) in Figure 6-13.
  6. Place the removed FPC in an ESD bag.
