Scenarios

You can log in to the CMC WebUI and configure logical partitions for the 9016.

  • Networking Mode with a Switch

    If a switch is configured, the LOM CMC/3 and CMC/4 of the primary compute node of each physical partition communicate with the CMC through the switch, providing reliable redundancy for logical partition management, as shown in Figure 5-15.

    This networking mode applies to scenarios where logical partitions are configured for multiple physical partitions on one KunLun server.

  • Networking Mode Without a Switch

    If no switch is deployed, the LOM CMC/3 and CMC/4 of the primary compute node of each physical partition communicate with the CMC directly, as shown in Figure 5-16.

    This networking mode applies to scenarios where logical partitions are configured for only one physical partition on one KunLun server.

Prerequisites

The 9016 is powered on.

The physical partition contains a primary compute node, and LPAR Support on the CMC WebUI is on..

Procedure

  1. Log in to the CMC WebUI. For details, see Logging In to the CMC WebUI.
  2. Choose Partition Management on the menu bar, and choose KPAR in the navigation area. The KPAR page is displayed. Click LPAR Support to enable the logical partition function. See Figure 5-17.

    • LPAR Support can be set only when the physical partition is powered off. If the physical partition is powered on, click Power Off to power it off first.
    • VM Support is available only when you create a 4P or 8P partition. The virtualization function and the logical partitioning function are exclusive to each other and cannot be enabled at the same time.
    • If LPAR Support is on, Boot Option of the physical partition is automatically hidden and unavailable. If LPAR Support is off, Boot Option is displayed and available.

  3. After setting LPAR Support to on, click Power On to power on the physical partition again.
  4. In the navigation tree, choose Logical Partition. The Logical Partition page is displayed.

    Manage the logical partition network.

    Click Manage LPAR Network. On the Manage Partition Network page displayed, configure the management network IP address and subnet mask for the SCE logical partition. See Figure 5-18.

    NOTE:
    • Before setting the IP address, enable the logical partitioning function on the KPAR page and ensure that the in-band system is started.
    • The VMA IP address cannot be the same as the CMC internal and external IP addresses, and must be in the same network segment as the floating IP address.
    • Ensure that the BMC is present. Otherwise, the network cannot be configured.

  5. In the navigation tree, choose Logical Partition. The Logical Partition page is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-19.

    Click Create Logical Partition. The Create Logical Partition page is displayed. For operation details, see the KunLun Mission Critical Server LPAR User Guide.

    After the logical partion is created, the Logical Partition page is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-18.

  6. On the VIO page, you can create storage pools, as shown in Figure 5-20.

    Click Create Storage Pool. Configure the parameters on the displayed Create Storage Pool window. For details, see "VIO" in the KunLun Mission Critical Server V100R001 CMC User Guide.
