Removing an SCE (Supporting REEs)


Remove a system compute enclosure (SCE) if it has failed or a component in it needs to be replaced.



No special condition is required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
  • Phillips screwdriver


At least four persons are required to remove an SCE because it is heavy. Falling down of an SCE may cause equipment damage or personal injury.

  1. Turn off the PDU switch that corresponds to the SCE.
  2. Remove the front acoustic door. For details, see Removing an Acoustic Door.
  3. Remove the front bezel. For details, see Removing a Front Bezel.
  4. Remove the FPC. For details, see Removing an FPC.
  5. Remove all cables from the SCE.
  6. Remove all modules from the SCE.
  7. Loosen the captive screws that secure the rear support to the SCE. See step (1) in Figure 6-7.
  8. Remove the rear support. See step (2) in Figure 6-7.

  9. Remove the protective covers on the four corners at the front of the SCE. See step (1) in Figure 6-8.
  10. Loosen the screws that secure the SCE. See step (2) in Figure 6-8.
  11. Gently remove the SCE. See step (3) in Figure 6-8.
  12. Place the removed SCE in an ESD bag.
