Installing a Non-Hot-Swappable PCIe Card

Installing a Non-Hot-Swappable PCIe Card

Install a non-hot-swappable PCIe card on a back I/O module (BIO) to replace the faulty PCIe card.

PCIe cards of the same type must be installed in different SCEs to provide redundant configuration between SCEs.

No special conditions are required for this operation.

No data preparation is required for this operation.

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

Spare non-hot-swappable PCIe card

  1. Power off the physical partition where a non-hot-swappable PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the BIO where the non-hot-swappable PCIe card is to be installed. For details, see Removing a BIO.
  3. Take the spare non-hot-swappable PCIe card out of its ESD bag.
  4. Insert the non-hot-swappable PCIe card into the BIO as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-116.
  5. Close the BIO cover. See step (2) in Figure 6-116.
  6. (Optional) Install a plastic baffle.

If there is a hollowed-out metal bar on the outer side of the newly installed PCIe card or the PCIe slot is vacant, remove the plastic baffle from the BIO, and install the plastic baffle on the outer side of the PCIe slot.
