Powering On the 9016

Scenarios

Power on the 9016 after:

  • The 9016 is properly installed.
  • The 9016 is maintained.

The method for powering on the 9016 varies according to the scenario. You can power on the server by pressing the system power button onsite or by using the central management console (CMC) CLI or WebUI remotely.

Prerequisites

Conditions

  • The 9016 and its internal components have been properly installed.
  • The 9016 is properly grounded.
  • Software and firmware have been upgraded.

Data

  • You have determined the cabinet number and installation position for the 9016 to be powered on.
  • You have obtained the IP address, user name, and password for the CMC management network port.

Procedure

Power on the cabinet.

  1. Turn on all switches on the four power distribution units (PDUs) at the rear of the cabinet. See Figure 4-1.

The cabinet is powered on when the running status indicators on the power supply units (PSUs) at the rear of the cabinet are all steady green.

Power on the server.

  • Power on the server by pressing the system power button.
    1. Ensure that the PSUs are powered on and the server is standby.
    2. When the system power indicator is steady yellow, press the system power button.

      Press the system power button at the front of the central management enclosure (CME) for shorter than 3 seconds. The service system of the server starts to power on. After the server is powered on, the system power indicator is steady green. The system power indicator is shown in 6 of Figure 4-2.

  • Power on the server by using the CMC CLI.
    1. Logging In to the CMC CLI.
    2. Run the smmset [-l smm] -d poweraction -v 1 partitionid command to remotely power on the server.

      In the command, partitionid indicates the ID of a physical partition. You can obtain the ID of each physical partition on the CMC WebUI.

  • Power on the server by using the CMC WebUI.
    1. Logging In to the CMC WebUI.
    2. On the CMC WebUI, choose Partition Management > KPAR.
    3. On the KPAR page, locate the physical partition to be powered on.
    4. Click Power On.

      In the displayed dialog box, click OK.

Verification

After the server is powered on, observe its indicators on Overviewtab and ensure that the server is operating properly, see Figure 4-3. Check for alarms on the CMC WebUI. Clear alarms if any. For details about how to clear alarms, see KunLun Mission Critical Server V100R001 CMC Alarm Handling.
