Removing a Switch Module

Scenarios

Remove a switch module in any of the following scenarios:

  • The switch module has failed.
  • A RAID controller card has failed.
  • A hard disk backplane has failed.
  • A supercapacitor in the switch module has failed.
  • An air duct has failed.

Prerequisites

Conditions

No special condition is required for this operation.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

Procedure

  1. Power off the physical partition where the switch module to be removed is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the front bezel and FPC. For details, see Removing a Front Bezel and Removing an FPC.
  3. Press the ejector release buttons on the switch module to eject the ejector levers. See step (1) in Figure 6-117.
  4. Fully raise the ejector levers. See step (2) in Figure 6-117.
  5. Gently remove the switch module by holding its ejector levers. See step (3) in Figure 6-117.
  6. Remove all modules from the switch module.

  7. Place the removed switch module in an ESD bag.
