This document describes the appearance, specifications, parameters, and structure of the KunLun 9016, and how to install an OS, replace parts, and install, remove, configure, and troubleshoot the server.

Capacity Reduction from 9016-16P to 9008-8P

Procedure

  1. Log in to the CMC WebUI. On the menu bar, choose Overview. On the Overview tab page, view the product model in the Product Info area. Check that Model is 9016-16P, as shown in Figure 8-25.

  2. Power off the server and ensure that all SCEs and the CME are powered off.
  3. Based on capacity reduction requirements, remove SCE 2, For details, see Removing an SCM.
  4. After the hardware configuration is complete, power on the server. Ensure that SCEs are powered on before the CME is powered on so that the CME can detect correct hardware configurations during system initialization. After the server is powered on, wait for about 10 minutes until the system initialization is complete, and then proceed with the next step.
  5. After the CMC is started, log in to the CMC WebUI as an administrator, enter the user name and password, and click Log In. A dialog box is displayed, asking you whether to change the product configuration, as shown in Figure 8-26.

  6. Click OK. A dialog box shown in Figure 8-27 is displayed, showing "The capacity reduction takes some time. Please wait."

    Wait for about 5 seconds. A dialog box shown in Figure 8-28 is displayed, showing "Switching succeeded. Go to the physical partition management page to switch the physical partition mode to adapt to the current configuration."

  7. Click OK. The home page is displayed. On the menu bar, choose Overview. On the Overview tab page, view the product model in the Product Info area. Check that Model is 9008-8P, as shown in Figure 8-29.

  8. On the menu bar, choose Overview. Click the Current Alarms tab. There are CPU board configuration error alarms and product model and system configuration mismatch alarm, as shown in Figure 8-30.

  9. Choose Partition Management on the menu bar and then KPAR in the navigation tree. On the displayed KPAR page, click Switch Physical Partition Mode, as shown in Figure 8-31.

  10. Select a physical partition mode to adapt to the current configuration, and click OK, as shown in Figure 8-32.

  11. In the displayed dialog box, enter the password, and click OK to switch the physical partition mode, as shown in Figure 8-33.

  12. Choose System Management on the menu bar and then Log Management > System Event Logs in the navigation tree. The System Event Logs page is displayed, as shown in Figure 8-34. Check that the CPU board configuration error alarms and product model and system configuration mismatch alarm are cleared.

    NOTE:

    After the capacity reduction is successful, some original alarms on the alarm page are not cleared immediately. This is a normal phenomenon. Wait for about 1 minute and the alarms will be automatically cleared. Wait until the alarms are cleared and proceed with other operations.

    All operations of reducing the capacity from 9016-16P to 9008-8P are complete now.
