Removing a PRM

Removing a PRM


Remove a PCIe riser module (PRM) in any of the following scenarios:

  • The PRM has failed.
  • A PCIe card on the PRM has failed.



No special conditions are required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
  • Phillips screwdriver


  1. Power off the physical partition where the PRM is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the front I/O module (FIO) where the PRM is located. For details, see Removing an FIO (FIO-A).
  3. Press the button on the FIO cover. See step (1) in Figure 6-74.
  4. Remove the FIO cover. See step (2) in Figure 6-74.

  5. Loosen the screws that secure the PRM. See step (1) in Figure 6-75.
  6. Press the latch in the arrow direction. See step (2) in Figure 6-75.
  7. Lift the ejector lever. See step (3) in Figure 6-75.
  8. Lift the PRM. See step (4) in Figure 6-75.
  9. Remove all PCIe cards from the PRM. For details, see Removing a PCIe Card from an FIO.
  10. Place the removed PRM in an ESD bag.
