Removing a Hot-Swappable PCIe Card

Removing a Hot-Swappable PCIe Card

Remove a hot-swappable PCIe card from a BIO if it has failed.

The support for hot swap of PCIe cards depends on the OS type. For details, see Server Compatibility Checker.

  • Only one hot-swappable PCIe card can be removed at a time.
  • The intervals between the removal and between the insertion of two PCIe cards must be longer than 20 seconds.

No data preparation is required for this operation.

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

  1. Determine the locations of the status indicator, power indicator, and hot swap button on the PCIe card. See Figure 6-144.
  2. Press the hot swap button below the PCIe card.
  3. Wait until the power indicator on the PCIe card is off. After the power indicator is off, the PCIe card is removable.
