Installing a BIO
Scenarios
Install a back I/O module (BIO) in any of the following scenarios:
- A BIO has failed.
- A non-hot-swappable PCIe card on a BIO has failed.
Prerequisites
Conditions
The 9016 SCE supports two types of BIOs: BIO-A and BIO-B. A BIO-A supports two standard hot-swappable PCIe slots, and a BIO-B supports three standard non-hot-swappable PCIe slots. This topic describes how to install a BIO-B.
Data
No data preparation is required for this operation.
Tools
- ESD gloves
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Hardware
Spare BIO-B
Procedure
- Power off the physical partition where a BIO-B is to be installed. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
- Take the spare BIO-B out of its ESD bag.
- Install all PCIe cards in the BIO-B. For details, see Installing a Non-Hot-Swappable PCIe Card. For details about how to install hot-swappable PCIe cards in a BIO-A, see Installing a Hot-Swappable PCIe Card.
- Insert the BIO-B into the SCE as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-40.
- Close the BIO-B ejector lever until the BIO-B is latched. See step (2) in Figure 6-40.
