Removing a PCIe Card from an FIO

Scenarios

Remove a PCIe card from a front I/O module (FIO) if the PCIe card has failed.

Prerequisites

Conditions

No special conditions are required for this operation.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

Procedure

  1. Power off the physical partition where the PCIe card is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
  2. Remove the FIO where the PCIe card is located. For details, see Removing an FIO (FIO-A).
  3. Press the button on the FIO cover. See step (1) in Figure 6-78.
  4. Remove the FIO cover. See step (2) in Figure 6-78.

  5. (Optional) If the 9016 is configured with a GPU, remove the power cables between the front I/O module and the GPU, as shown in Figure 6-79.

  6. Remove the PCIe riser module (RPM) where the PCIe card is located. For details, see Removing a PRM.
  7. Open the PCIe card latches on both sides. See step (1) in Figure 6-80.
  8. Open the baffle outside the PCIe card. See step (2) in Figure 6-80.
  9. Open the PCIe card latch on the right. See step (3) in Figure 6-80.
  10. Open the plastic latch. See step (4) in Figure 6-80.
  11. Remove the PCIe card. See step (5) in Figure 6-80.
  12. Place the removed PCIe card in an ESD bag.
