Installing a Hard Disk


Install a hard disk in any of the following scenarios:

  • A hard disk has failed.
  • A hard disk needs to be replaced with a new model.
  • A hard disk has no free space.



No special conditions are required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag


Spare hard disk


  1. Press the button on the hard disk tray of the hard disk to be removed. The black handle automatically ejects. See step (1) in Figure 6-93.
  2. Hold the black handle and pull out the hard disk support. See step (2) in Figure 6-93.


    The hard disk tray cannot completely pull out of the FIO.

  3. Take a spare hard disk out of its ESD bag.
  4. Fully raise the ejector lever, and insert the hard disk into the front I/O module (FIO) as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-94.
  5. Ensure that the ejector lever is engaged with the FIO beam, and close the ejector lever to completely insert the hard disk into the FIO. See step (2) in Figure 6-94.

  6. Hold the black handle and push the hard disk tray into the FIO until you hear a sound. See step (1) in Figure 6-95.
