This document describes the appearance, specifications, parameters, and structure of the KunLun 9016, and how to install an OS, replace parts, and install, remove, configure, and troubleshoot the server.

General Requirements

  • To minimize the risk of personal injury and equipment damage, read and follow all the safety instructions on equipment and safety precautions in this document before performing installation or maintenance.
  • Only personnel authorized or certified by official organizations or governments are allowed to perform special tasks, such as performing high voltage and AC operations and operating a forklift.
  • This product is Class A equipment. Take protective measures before operating this product in a residential area as it is likely to cause radio interference.

Personal Safety

Observe the following rules for personal safety:

  • Only personnel certified or authorized by Huawei are allowed to install equipment or its components.
  • Discontinue any dangerous operations and take protective measures.
  • Immediately report any fault or error that may cause equipment damage or personal injury to a project supervisor.
  • Do not perform operations such as moving equipment and installing cabinets or power cables during lightning strikes.
  • Exercise caution when using tools, to prevent personal injury caused by misoperations.
  • If the equipment installation position is above shoulder height, use a stacker to lift the equipment to prevent it from falling.
  • To prevent electric shock, do not touch high-voltage cables directly or indirectly. A high voltage power supply may be powering the device.
  • Ensure that the equipment is grounded properly before powering it on. Otherwise, high leakage current may cause personal injury.
  • At least two persons are required when a ladder is used.
  • When handling an optical fiber, do not look into the optical port without eye protection.
  • Wear clean protective gloves, ESD clothing, a protective hat, and protective shoes, as shown in Figure 1-1.

  • Observe the following precautions when moving equipment:
    • Do not carry the weight that is over the maximum load per person allowed by local laws or regulations.
    • Before moving or installing equipment, check the maximum equipment weight and arrange required personnel.
  • Before operating any equipment, wear ESD clothes and ESD gloves (or ESD wrist strap), and remove any electricity-conductive objects, such as jewelry and watches, as shown in Figure 1-2.

Figure 1-3 shows how to wear an ESD wrist strap.

  1. Secure the ESD wrist strap around your wrist.
  2. Fasten the strap buckle and ensure that the ESD wrist strap is in contact against your skin.
  3. Insert the ground terminal attached to the ESD wrist strap into the ESD jack in a cabinet or chassis.

Equipment Safety

Observe the following precautions for equipment safety:

  • Use dedicated power cables to ensure equipment and personal safety.
  • Power cables are used only for KunLun servers. Do not use them for other devices.
  • Before operating equipment, wear ESD clothes and gloves to prevent damage to electrostatic-sensitive devices.
  • Observe all operation instructions and precautions during transportation, to prevent equipment damage and personal injury.
  • Exercise caution when using tools, to prevent equipment damage caused by misoperations.
  • Connect the primary and secondary power cables to different power distribution units (PDUs) to ensure reliable system operation.
  • Ensure that the equipment is grounded properly before powering it on. Otherwise, high leakage current may cause equipment damage.

Limits for the Maximum Weight Carried Per Person

To reduce the risk of personal injury, comply with local regulations regarding the limits for the maximum weight carried per person. The weight information on equipment labels or in product documentation is for reference only.

Table 1-1 lists the limits for the maximum weight carried per person as stipulated by the following organizations.
