Installing an SCE

Installing an SCE


Install a system compute enclosure (SCE) to replace the faulty one or after a component in the SCE is replaced.



No special conditions are required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver


Spare SCE


At least four persons are required to install an SCE because it is heavy. Falling down of an SCE may cause equipment damage or personal injury.

  1. Turn off the switches on the PDUs corresponding to the system compute enclosure (SCE).
  2. Take the spare SCE out of its ESD bag.
  3. Slide the SCE into the cabinet as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-5.
  4. Tighten the screws to secure the SCE. See step (2) in Figure 6-5.
  5. Install the protective covers on the four corners at the front of the SCE. See step (3) in Figure 6-5.

  6. Place the rear support upward and slide rightwards. See step (1) in Figure 6-6.
  7. Tighten the captive screws that secure the rear support to the SCE. See step (2) in Figure 6-6.

  8. Install all modules in the SCE.
  9. Connect all cables to the SCE.
  10. Install the front acoustic door. For details, see Installing an Acoustic Door.
