Logging In to the CMC CLI

Logging In to the CMC CLI

Scenarios

Log in to the central management console (CMC) CLI to manage and monitor the server.

There are several login methods. Choose a method based on your requirements.

Prerequisites

Conditions

To log in to the CMC CLI over the network port, ensure that:

  • The network port on the client is properly connected to the management network port on the server by using a network cable.
  • The IP addresses of the client network port and the management network port are on the same network segment.

Data

You have obtained the following data:

  • IP address of the CMC management network port
  • CMC user name and password

Procedure

Log in to the CMC CLI over SSH.

NOTE:

The Secure Shell (SSH) protocol provides secure remote login and other secure network services over an insecure network.

The methods for logging in to the CMC CLI over SSH vary according to the client operating system (OS):

  • If the client runs Linux:
    1. Connect the network port on the client to the management network port on the server.
    2. Run the ssh ipaddress command on the terminal tool (for example, shell) to log in to the CMC CLI. (In the command, ipaddress indicates the IP address of the management network port.)
  • If the client runs Windows:
    1. Download and install an SSH client communication tool (for example, PuTTY).
    2. Connect the network port on the client to the management network port on the server.
    3. Enter the IP address, user name, and password of the management network port on the client communication tool.
