Installing an SCE (Supporting REEs)

Scenarios

Install a system compute enclosure (SCE) to replace the faulty one or after a component in the SCE is replaced.

Prerequisites

Conditions

At least four persons are required to install an SCE because it is heavy. Falling down of an SCE may cause equipment damage or personal injury.

Data

No data preparation is required for this operation.

Tools

  • ESD gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver

Hardware

Spare SCE

Procedure

  1. Turn off the PDU switch that corresponds to the SCE.
  2. Take the spare SCE out of its ESD bag.
  3. Slide the SCE into the cabinet as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-9.
  4. Tighten the screws to secure the SCE. See step (2) in Figure 6-9.
  5. Install the protective covers on the four corners at the front of the SCE. See step (3) in Figure 6-9.

  6. Place the rear support upward and slide rightwards. See step (1) in Figure 6-10.
  7. Tighten the captive screws that secure the rear support to the SCE. See step (2) in Figure 6-10.

  8. Install all modules in the SCE.

    1. Install the system compute modules (SCMs). For details, see Installing an SCM.
    2. Install the front I/O module (FIO). For details, see Installing an FIO-G (Supporting REEs).
    3. Install the back I/O modules (BIOs). For details, see Installing a BIO.
    4. Install the node controller modules (NCMs). For details, see Installing an NCM.
    5. Install the local partition management modules (LPMs). For details, see Installing an LPM.
    6. Install the fan modules. For details, see Installing a Fan Module.
    7. Install the power supply units (PSUs). For details, see Installing an AC PSU in an SCE.

  9. Install an FPC. For details, see Installing an FPC.
  10. Install a front bezel. For details, see Installing a Front Bezel.
  11. Install the front acoustic door. For details, see Installing an Acoustic Door.
  12. Connect all cables to the SCE.
