Installing a PFM in the CME

Installing a PFM in the CME


Install a power and fan integrity module (PFM) in the central management enclosure (CME) in any of the following scenarios:

  • The PFM has failed.
  • The PFM needs to be replaced with a new model.



No special conditions are required for this operation.


No data preparation is required for this operation.


  • ESD gloves
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag


Spare PFM


  1. Take the spare PFM out of its ESD bag.
  2. Slide the PFM into the CME as far as it will go. See step (1) in Figure 6-22.
  3. Close the ejector lever on the PFM until the PFM is latched. See step (2) in Figure 6-22.
  4. Connect the cable to the PFM. See step (3) in Figure 6-22.
