Powering Off the 9016
Scenarios
Power off the 9016 in any of the following scenarios:
- The 9016 needs to be maintained or replaced.
The method for powering off the 9016 varies according to scenarios. You can power off the server by pressing the system power button onsite or by using the central management console (CMC) CLI or WebUI remotely.
Impact on the System
Powering off the server stops the services and programs running on the server.
Prerequisites
Conditions
Before powering off a server, ensure that all services and programs on the server have been stopped or switched to another server.
Data
- All data has been backed up.
- You have determined the cabinet number and installation position for the 9016 to be powered off.
- You have obtained the IP address, user name, and password for the CMC management network port.

Procedure
- Power off the server by holding down the system power button.
Hold down the system power button on the front panel of the central management enclosure (CME) for 4 seconds. The service system of the server is forcibly powered off, but the CMC is still operating.
In physical partition mode, the system power button/indicator on the front panel of the CME is unavailable.
- Power off the server by using the CMC CLI.
- Log in to the CMC CLI. For details, see Logging In to the CMC CLI.
- Run the smmset [-l smm] -d poweraction -v 2 partitionid command to remotely power off the server.
In the command, partitionid indicates the ID of a physical partition. You can obtain the ID of each physical partition on the CMC WebUI.
- Power off the server by using the CMC WebUI.
- Log in to the CMC CLI. For details, see Logging In to the CMC WebUI.
- On the CMC WebUI, choose Partition Management > KPAR.
- On the KPAR page, locate the physical partition to be powered off.
- Click Power Off.
In the displayed dialog box, click OK. After the physical partition is powered off, its power indicator is steady yellow.
