Removing a Supercapacitor
Scenarios
Remove a supercapacitor in any of the following scenarios:
- The supercapacitor has failed.
- The supercapacitor is low.

Tools
- ESD gloves
- Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
- Phillips screwdriver
Procedure
- Power off the physical partition where the supercapacitor is located. For details, see Powering Off the 9016.
- Remove the front I/O module (FIO) where the supercapacitor is located. For details, see Removing an FIO (FIO-B).
- Press the button on the FIO cover. See step (1) in Figure 6-102.
- Remove the FIO cover. See step (2) in Figure 6-102.
- Vertically remove the trans flash module (TFM) from the RAID controller card. See step (1) in Figure 6-103.
- Lift the supercapacitor tray. See step (2) in Figure 6-103.
- Horizontally open the plastic latches that secure the supercapacitor. See step (3) in Figure 6-103.
- Exert even force to lift the supercapacitor out of the server. See step (4) in Figure 6-103.
- Place the removed supercapacitor in an ESD bag.
