OS Installation
Prerequisites
- You have obtained the OS installation DVD-ROM or image file.
- For details about how to configure the LSISAS3008 and LSISAS3108 RAID controller cards, see Configuring the LSISAS3008 Controller Card and Configuring the LSISAS3108 Controller Card.
- In the BIOS setup menu, EDB (Execute Disable Bit) is set to Enable by default. Do not change the value to Disable; otherwise, the system startup may fail. For details, see the KunLun Mission Critical Server V100R001 BIOS Parameter Reference. Choose IntelRCSetup > Processor Configuration > Execute Disable Bit.
Proceduree
- On the CMC WebUI, choose Partition Management > KPAR, as shown in Figure 3-1.
- Click Remote Virtual Console.
- On the remote virtual console, click
on the toolbar. The dialog box shown in Figure 3-2 is displayed.
- Select Image File.
- Click Browse next to Image File.
The Open dialog box is displayed.
- Select the OS ISO file and click Open.
- In the virtual DVD drive dialog box, click Connect.
When Connect changes into Disconnect, the virtual DVD drive is connected to the server, as shown in Figure 3-3.
- On the remote virtual console, click
on the toolbar.
Select Power On from the shortcut menu, as shown in Figure 3-4.
- The screen shown in Figure 3-5 is displayed.
Click Delete.
- On the displayed screen shown in Figure 3-6, select Save & Exit by pressing ← or →.
- Select UEFI: HUAWEI DVD-ROM VH 1.1.0 225 by pressing ↑ or ↓, and press Enter.
- On the screen shown in Figure 3-7, select Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 and press e to edit this option.
- On the editing screen, move the cursor to the end of the line starting with linuxefi, and add efi=old_map nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_timeout=600 rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 hpet=disable pmtmr=0 before quiet. See Figure 3-8.
Press Ctrl + x. The system starts from the DVD drive.
- After the system starts, it enters the configuration process.
A graphic or text login window is displayed depending on the graphics card configuration. The following uses the graphical user interface (GUI) as an example.
- In the welcome window, select a language, as shown in Figure 3-9.
- Choose English > English (United States).
- Click Continue. The INSTALLATION SUMMARY window is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-10.
The item with an exclamation mark (!) must be configured; otherwise, the OS installation cannot proceed.
- In the window shown in Figure 3-11, click DATE & TIME and set the date and time based on the site requirements.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the software selection window, select an installation package as required.
The following provides two scenarios for you to select based on the actual situation:
- Standard installation scenario:
- In the Base Environment area, select Server With GUI.
- In the Add-Ons For Selected Environment area, select Development Tools.
- After the configuration, click Done.
Figure 3-12 Standard installation scenario- Database scenario: In the Base Environment column, select Minimal Install; in the Add-Ons for Select Environment column, select Development Tools; click Done, as shown in Figure 3-13.
After the installation is complete, install the software in as required.
- Standard installation scenario:
- In the window shown in Figure 3-10, click INSTALLATION DESTINATION.
- In the Local Standard Disks area, select the storage device which needs to be configured with the OS.
- In the Other Storage Options area, select I will configure partitioning, as shown in Figure 3-14.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the MANUAL PARTITIONING window, click Click here to create them automatically, as shown in Figure 3-15.
- In the window shown in Figure 3-16, reconfigure the partition size and file system type, which can be configured as follows:
- The /home partition parameters (optional) can be set as follows:
Desired Capacity is set to 45% of the hard disk capacity, Device Type is set to Standard Partition, and File System is set to ext4, as shown in Figure 3-16.
- The /boot partition parameters (optional) can be set as follows:
Desired Capacity is set to 500 MiB, Device Type is set to Standard Partition, and File System is set to ext4, as shown in Figure 3-17.
- The /boot/efi partition parameters (mandatory) can be set as follows:
Desired Capacity is set to 200 MiB, Device Type is set to Standard Partition, and File System is set to EFI System Partition, as shown in Figure 3-18.
- The / partition parameters (mandatory) can be set as follows:
Desired Capacity is set to 50% of the hard disk capacity, Device Type is set to Standard Partition, and File System is set to ext4, as shown in Figure 3-19.
- The swap partition parameters (mandatory) can be set as follows:
Desired Capacity is set to 16 GiB, Device Type is set to Standard Partition, and File System is set to swap, as shown in Figure 3-20.
- The /home partition parameters (optional) can be set as follows:
- After the configuration, click Done.
In the SUMMARY OF CHANGES window, click Accept Changes, as shown in Figure 3-21.
- In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY window, click NETWORK & HOST NAME.
- Select the network interface card (NIC) to be configured, and click OFF on the right of the window to set the NIC to ON.
- Click Configure.

- In the displayed window, click IPv4 Settings and set Address, Netmask, and Gateway, as shown in Figure 3-23.
Click Save.
- In the NETWORK & HOST NAME window, change Host name in the format of hostname.domainname based on the site requirements, and click Done in the upper left corner of the window.
- In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY window, click Begin Installation.

- During the automatic OS installation, configure the password of the root user and create a common user.
See Figure 3-25.
- Click ROOT PASSWORD.
- In the displayed window, enter the same password twice.
See Figure 3-26.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the CONFIGURATION window, click USER CREATION. See Figure 3-27.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- After the OS installation is complete, click Reboot, as shown in Figure 3-28.
- On the GRUB boot screen, select the device to be booted from and press e.
- On the editing screen, move the cursor to the position shown in Figure 3-29.
Add efi=old_map nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_timeout=600 rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 hpet=disable pmtmr=0 in front of quiet and press Ctrl + x to boot the system.
- In the INITIAL SETUP window, click LICENSE INFORMATION.

- Select I accept the license agreement, and click Done in the upper left corner of the window.

- In the INITIAL SETUP window, click FINISH CONFIGURATION.

- In the Subscription Management Registration window, select No, I prefer to register at a later time and click Forward.

- In the system installation window, enter the user name and password.
- Select the OS language upon the first login.

- Click Next.
- Click Next as prompted to complete the configuration.
