Installation Procedure
Prerequisites
- The server has been powered on.
- For details about how to configure the LSISAS3008 and LSISAS3108 RAID controller cards, see Configuring the LSISAS3008 Controller Card and Configuring the LSISAS3108 Controller Card.
Procedure
- Mount the OS ISO file to the virtual DVD drive using the KVM, as shown in Figure 4-2.
- After the server is powered on, on the BIOS Setup menu, select Save & Exit.
- Select UEFI: Virtual DVD VM 1.1.0 225, as shown in Figure 4-3.
- Press Enter.
The screen shown in Figure 4-4 is displayed.
- Select Installation and press E to edit installation parameters. Add the parameter "nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1". Then press F10 to start the installation.Figure 4-5 Editing installation parameters
The Welcome window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-6.
Configure the Welcome window as follows:
- Select a language from the Language drop-down list. English (US) is recommended.
- Select a keyboard layout from the Keyboard Layout drop-down list. English (US) is recommended.
- In the License Agreement area, select I Agree to the License Terms.
- Click Next.
The Media Check window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-7.
- Check that the DVD and DVD drive are correct and click Next.
The Installation Mode window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-8.
- Select New Installation and click Next.
The Clock and Time Zone window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-9.
- Select a region and time zone and click Next.
- Deselect Hardware Clock Set to UTC
- Do not configure the time. That is, do not modify Date and Time.
The Server Base Scenario window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-10.
- Select Physical Machine and click Next.
The Installation Settings window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-11.
- Click Partitioning.
The Preparing Hard Disk window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-12.
- Select Custom Partitioning (for experts) and click Next.
The Expert Partitioner window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-13.
- Double-click the current partition, for example, /dev/sda3, and click Delete to delete existing partitions on it.
The window shown in Figure 4-14 is displayed.
- Click Expert in the lower right corner of the window, and choose Create New Partition Table on the shortcut menu displayed. See Figure 4-15.
- In the dialog box displayed, click Yes.
- Click Add.
The New Partition Size window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-16.
- Configure the partition size and click Next.
The window shown in Figure 4-17 is displayed.
- Configure the partition file system and mount point according to Table 4-2, and then click Finish.
- After the configuration, click Accept.
The Installation Settings window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-11.
- Click Change and select Software from the drop-down list.
The Software Selection and System Tasks window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-18.
- Select or deselect software options based on site requirements, and click OK.
You are advised to select C/C++ Compiler and Tools; otherwise, some NICs of special types are incompatible.
- In the displayed Professional TrueType Fonts dialog box, select Accept.
The Installation Settings window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-11.
- Select Booting. The Boot Loader Settings window is displayed. See Figure 4-19.
- Click Edit. The Boot Loader Settings: Section Management window is displayed. Add the parameter "nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1" to the end of the Option kernel command line parameter content. See Figure 4-20.
- Click OK. The Boot Loader Settings window is displayed. Click OK. The Installation Settings window is displayed.
- In the window shown in Figure 4-11, click Install.
The Confirm Installation dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-21.
- Click Install.
The Perform Installation window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-22.
- Complete basic installation as prompted.
After the server restarts, the Password for the System Administrator "root" window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-23.
- Set a password for the root user and click Next.
The Hostname and Domain Name window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-24.
- Set Hostname and Domain Name for the server, and click Next.
You need to set the parameters based on site requirements. You are not advised to retain the default values.
The Network Configuration window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-25.
- Retain the default values and click Next.
You are advised to configure the network based on site requirements. If the network does not need to be configured currently, click Skip Configuration.
The Test Internet Connection window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-26.
- Select No, Skip This Test and click Next.
The Network Service Configuration window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-27.
- Select Skip Configuration and click Next.
The User Authentication Method window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-28.
- Select Local (/etc/passwd) and click Next.
The New Local User window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-29.
- Create a user based on site requirements and click Next.
The Release Notes window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-30.
- Click Next.
The countdown dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
The Hardware Configuration window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-31.
- Retain the default values and click Next.
The Installation Completed window is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-32.
- Click Finish.
A dialog box is displayed.
- Click Continue.
When the installation is complete, the system login dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-33.
