Installation Procedure
Prerequisites
- The server has been powered on.
- You have obtained the OS installation DVD-ROM or image file.
- Hard disks have been formatted. For details, see Formatting Hard Disks.
- For details about how to configure the LSISAS3008 and LSISAS3108 controller cards, see Configuring the LSISAS3008 Controller Card and Configuring the LSISAS3108 Controller Card.
Procedure
- Perform Step 1 to Step 11 in OS Installation.
- On the screen shown in Figure 6-1, select Install NeoKylin Linux Advanced Server V7Update2, and press e.
- On the editing screen, move the cursor to the position shown in Figure 6-2, add efi=old_map nowatchdog nosoftlockup rucpdate.rcu_cpu_stall_timeout=600 rcpudate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 before quiet, and press Ctrl + x to save the configuration.
- After the system starts, it enters the configuration process.
A graphic or text login window is displayed depending on the graphics card configuration. The following uses the graphical user interface (GUI) as an example.
- In the welcome window, select a language.
Set the language properly in a one-shot manner. The rollback function is not supported during installation.
- Choose English > English (United States).
- Click Continue. The INSTALLATION SUMMARY window is displayed, as shown in Figure 6-3.
The item with an exclamation mark (!) must be configured; otherwise, the OS installation cannot proceed.
- In the window shown in Figure 6-4, click DATE & TIME and set the date and time based on the site requirements.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the window shown in Figure 6-5, click SOFTWARE SELECTION.
- In the Base Environment area, select Server with GUI.
- In the Add-Ons For Selected Environment area, select Development Tools.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the window shown in Figure 6-6, click INSTALLATION DESTINATION.
- In the Local Standard Disks area, select the storage device which needs to be configured with the OS.
- In the Other Storage Options area, select I will configure partitioning, as shown in Figure 6-6.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the MANUAL PARTITIONING window, click Click here to create them automatically in the New NeoKylin Linux Advanced Server V7 Installation area, as shown in Figure 6-7.
- In the displayed window, reconfigure the partition size and file system type. Figure 6-8 shows the default configuration of partitions and the file system.
- The /home partition parameters (optional) can be set as follows:
- Desired Capacity is set to 45% of the hard disk capacity.
- Device Type is set to Standard Partition.
- File System is set to ext4.

- Desired Capacity is set to 500 MiB.
- Device Type is set to Standard Partition.
- File System is set to ext4.

- Desired Capacity is set to 200 MiB.
- Device Type is set to Standard Partition.
- File System is set to EFI System Partition.

- Desired Capacity is set to 50% of the hard disk capacity.
- Device Type is set to Standard Partition.
- File System is set to ext4.

- Desired Capacity is set to a value larger than 40 GB.
- Device Type is set to Standard Partition.
- File System is set to swap.

- After the configuration, click Done. In the SUMMARY OF CHANGES window, click Accept Changes.
- In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY window, click KDUMP. In the KDUMP window, set Kdump Memory Reservation to Manual, set Memory To Be Reserved(MB) to 512, and click Done, as shown in Figure 6-14.
- In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY window, click NETWORK & HOST NAME.
- In the NETWORK & HOST NAME window, click Configure, as shown in Figure 6-15.
- In the displayed window, click IPv4 Settings and set Address, Netmask, and Gateway, as shown in Figure 6-16.
- Click Save. In the NETWORK & HOST NAME window, set Ethernet (ens8fo) to ON, as shown in Figure 6-17.
- In the INSTALLATION SUMMARY window, click Begin Installation.
During the automatic OS installation, configure the password of the root user and create a common user. See Figure 6-18.
- Click ROOT PASSWORD.
- In the window shown in Figure 6-19, enter the same password twice.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- In the CONFIGURATION window, click USER CREATION to create a common user. See Figure 6-20.
- After the configuration, click Done.
- After the OS installation is complete, click Reboot.
- On the GRUB boot screen, select the device to be booted from and press e, as shown in Figure 6-21.
- On the editing screen, move the cursor to the position shown in Figure 6-22. Add efi=old_map nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_timeout=600 rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 and press Ctrl + x to boot the system.
- In the INITIAL SETUP window, click LICENSE INFORMATION. Select I accept the license agreement, and click Done in the upper left corner of the window.
- In the INITIAL SETUP window, click FINISH CONFIGURATION. See Figure 6-23.
- Select the OS language upon the first login, and click Next.
- In the You're all Set window, click Start using NeoKylin Advanced Server, as shown in Figure 6-24.
