Installing the OS
Procedure
- Go to the CMC WebUI and restart the server.
- On the CMC KVM screen, click
to mount the OS ISO file.
- Modify the boot option.
- On the screen showing the BIOS version and CPU information, press Delete to go to the BIOS setup screen, as shown in Figure 7-1.
- On the Save & Exit screen, select Virtual DVD-ROM VM xxx to start the installation wizard, as shown in Figure 7-2.
- Select Install Ubuntu Server and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-3.
- Select English and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-4.
- Select No and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-5.
- Select English (US) and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-6.
- Select English (US) and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-7.
The system automatically loads components, as shown in Figure 7-8.
- Select the line that contains eth0 and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-9.
- Press Enter when the system displays "Network autoconfiguration failed" if the DHCP is not configured, as shown in Figure 7-10.
- Select Configure network manually and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-11.
- Enter an IP address and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-12.
- Enter a subnet mask and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-13.
- Enter a gateway and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-14.
- (Optional) Enter name server addresses and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-15.
- Enter a hostname and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-16.
- Enter a full name and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-17.
- Enter a username and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-18.
- Enter a password and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-19.
- Enter the password again and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-20.
- Select No and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-21.
- Select Eastern and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-22.
- Select Yes and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-23.
- Select Manual and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-24.
- Select the line that contains FREE SPACE and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-25.
- Select Create a new partition and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-26.
- Enter the size for the root partition and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-27. You are advised to set the size to half of the total size.
- Select Beginning and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-28.
- Set Mount point to the root directory /, select Done setting up the partition, and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-29.
- Select the line that contains FREE SPACE and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-30.
- Select Create a new partition and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-31.
- Enter the size for the swap partition and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-32. You are advised to set the size to 40.0 GB.
- Select Beginning and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-33.
- Select the line that contains Mount point and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-34.
- Select Do not mount it and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-35.
- Select the line that contains Use as and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-36.
- Select the line that contains swap area and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-37.
- Select Done setting up the partition and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-38.
- Use the same method to create an 1 GB EFI partition and a 200 GB /home partition, as shown in Figure 7-39.
- Select Finish partitioning and write changes to disk and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-40.
- Select Yes and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-41.
The installation starts, as shown in Figure 7-42.
- Select Continue and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-43.
- Select No automatic updates and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-44.
- Select OpenSSH server by using the arrow keys and space key, choose your desired software, and press Enter, as shown in Figure 7-45.
The installation continues, as shown in Figure 7-46.
- After the installation is complete, remove the physical or virtual DVD-ROM drive and press Enter to restart the OS, as shown in Figure 7-47. After the OS is restarted, use the username set in Step 18 to log in to the OS.
