Optimal Configuration of DIMM Model
To maximize the memory performance of the RH8100 V3 server virtualization, it is advised to follow the following configuration principles for the allocation and model selection of DIMMs:
- Ensure that each memory channel has DIMMs.
- Implement balanced allocation so that each memory channel has the same number of DIMMs.
- If balanced allocation fails due to other factors (for example, the number of purchased DIMMs is not the multiple of that of memory channels on the grounds of cost), determine the allocation based on the Huawei Server Product Memory Configuration Assistant to prevent incorrect allocation (incorrect allocation may lead to dramatic reduction of memory performance).
- DDR4 DIMMs provide better performance, while DDR3 DIMMs are more mature and stable currently. For details, see the service requirements.
