Configuration Operations

Configuration Operations

This section uses NetBackup as an example to configure Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) backup, meeting daily backup requirements of the financial institution.

Prerequisites

The network has been built up and the backup server communicates normally with the OceanStor 9000 and tape library.

Context

NDMP backup configuration process includes six steps: map a tape library, configure storage units, configure basic NDMP information, add an NDMP host (that is the OceanStor 9000), set a backup policy, and perform the backup task. Figure 13-13 shows the configuration flowchart.

Figure 13-13  Configuration flowchart

Procedure

  1. Map a tape library to the backup server. For details, see the tape library-related documents.
  2. On the backup server, use NetBackup to configure storage units for storing backup data.
  3. Log in to SmartKit and configure basic NDMP information such as enabling the NDMP service and setting the port ID, write threshold, and user name and password of the NDMP service.

    NOTE:
By default, the port ID is 10000. To ensure that services work normally, do not change the value.

  4. On NetBackup, configure the dynamic domain name of the NDMP host and the user name and password of the NDMP service.
  5. On NetBackup, configure a backup policy.
  6. Perform the backup task.
