This section describes the working principles of InfoRevive feature.

InfoRevive Principle

Assume that two data strips are faulty and the data protection level is 4+1. The disks in grey are faulty. When the InfoRevive feature is enabled, the system successfully reads and returns three data copies, and adds 0s to the two copies that have failed to be read and returns the two copies. Three copies send write success acknowledgement, the system does not add 0s to the failed two write copies but processes the failed copies as stripe write successes. An example of fault-tolerance read and write is shown in Figure 9-1.
